Lothar Firmans

Lothar Firmans (born November 10, 1896 in Ohrdruf ; † November 25, 1964 in Nieder-Mörlen ) was a German actor and theater director .

Life

The son of the theater director Georg Firmans received his acting training in Gdansk . Early engagements led him to stages in Lübeck , Bremen , Schwerin and Karlsruhe . He played Rühmann's flight instructor Hansen in the classic film Quax, the break pilot with Heinz Rühmann .

After the war he worked at the comedy and theater on Schiffbauerdamm , as well as at the Dresden State Theater . As State Secretary in Marriage in the Shadow , he received his first post-war role at DEFA . The production planned with him in a leading role, No Hüsung based on Fritz Reuter , was canceled in 1952 and later realized with a different cast.

Firmans then devoted himself mainly to the theater and was an actor and director on the stages of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck until 1954 . From 1954 he was active at the Saarbrücken City Theater . Here he embodied Alexander I in Reinhold Schneider's Die Abrechnung in 1954 and the Elector in The Prince of Homburg in 1955 and the title character in Wallenstein . Most recently he was on stage in Mannheim . His son Georg Firmans (* 1935) became a painter, set designer, gallery director and commercial artist.

His brother was Josef Firmans .
