Louis Tylka

Louis Tylka (born May 26, 1970 in Harvey , Illinois ) is an American clergyman and Roman Catholic coadjutor bishop of Peoria .

Life

Louis Tylka attended Saint Joseph's Elementary School in Homewood from 1976 to 1984 and Marian Catholic High School in Chicago Heights from 1984 to 1988 . Tylka then studied philosophy and Catholic theology at Loyola University Chicago and the University of Saint Mary of the Lake in Mundelein . He received on 18 May 1996 the Archbishop of Chicago , Cardinal Joseph Bernardin , the sacrament of Holy Orders .

After ordination, Louis Tylka served as parish vicar in the parish of Saint Michael in Orland Park before he became parish vicar of the parish of Saints Faith, Hope and Charity in Winnetka in 2003 . From 2004 to 2014 Louis Tylka was pastor of the Mater Christi parish in North Riverside . In 2014 Tylka became pastor of Saint Julie Billiart Parish in Tinley Park and chairman of the Priestly Council for the Archdiocese of Chicago.

On May 11, 2020, Pope Francis appointed him Coadjutor Bishop of Peoria. The archbishop of Chicago, bladder Cardinal Joseph Cupich , donated to him on 23 July of the same year in the Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception in Peoria , the episcopal ordination ; Co- consecrators were the Apostolic Nuncio to the United States, Archbishop Christophe Pierre , and the Archbishop of Milwaukee , Jerome Listecki .
