Lu'an ( Chinese  六安 市 , Pinyin Lù'ān Shì ) is a district-free city in the west of the Chinese province of Anhui . Lu'an has an area of ​​15,447 km² and around 4.77 million inhabitants (2016). 661,217 people live in the actual urban settlement area (2010 census).

Administrative structure

The prefecture-level city of Lu'an was created in 1998 from Lu'an County. In October 2015, the new Yeji District was established, its area was split off from the previous Huoqiu District. In December of that year, Shou County, which was previously part of Lu'an, was transferred to the Huainan Prefecture . Since then, Lu'an has consisted of three boroughs and four counties. These are:
