Ludwig Herzer
Ludwig Herzer , actually Ludwig Herzl , (born March 18, 1872 in Vienna , Austria-Hungary ; died April 17, 1939 in St. Gallen , Switzerland) was an Austrian doctor and librettist .
Life
Ludwig Herzl, later better known under his pseudonym Ludwig Herzer , studied medicine at the University of Vienna and worked in his main job as a gynecologist . He also wrote operetta libretti, often in collaboration with other well-known librettists, such as Alfred Grünwald or Fritz Löhner , for Edmund Eysler , Franz Lehár and Robert Stolz , among others .
After Austria was annexed to Germany, he had to flee as a Jew , and with great difficulty he was able to reach Swiss territory on November 29, 1938 near Hohenems - Diepoldsau .
