Ludwig Stats von Hahn (* 1657 in Seeburg ; † November 5, 1730 in Eisleben ) was a German court official in the Danish service, most recently Privy Councilor , Oberlanddrost in Oldenburg and Delmenhorst and court marshal .

Life

Ludwig Stats von Hahn came from the Mecklenburg nobility family Hahn (No. 279 of the gender census ) and was the eldest son of Henning von Hahn zu Seeburg, Kuchelmiß and Basedow († 1678) and his wife Ottilia nee. von Wulffen († 1678). The family had lived in Basedow since 1337 and was one of the largest landowners in the country. After completing his studies and an educational trip, Hahn spent some time at the courts of Hanover , Kurbrandenburg and Denmark. In 1685 he was chamberlain at the Danish court, where his cousin, the chief hunter Vincent Joachim von Hahn, great influence on King Christian V. exercised. After traveling with Crown Prince Friedrich , he became court marshal in 1691.

On May 4, 1706 Hahn, meanwhile a privy councilor and holder of the second highest Danish order, the Dannebrogord , was appointed Oberlanddrosten of the counties Oldenburg and Delmenhorst belonging to Denmark . During his tenure, which lasted until 1713, he stayed mainly at his Seeburg Castle .

He was buried in the Hahnschen crypt in the Fleckenkirche St. Nikolaus in Seeburg . In the 19th century, his mummified body was a sight.

family

On July 30, 1702 Hahn married at Gut Neuhaus near Giekau in the Duchy of Holstein Catharina (Katherine) Margarethe Rantzau (1679–1741), the daughter of Kai (Kay) Rantzau zu Neuhaus and Catharina nee. Blohme. Through this marriage, the Hahn family settled in Holstein and was accepted into the Schleswig-Holstein knighthood in 1756 . The natural philosopher and astronomer Friedrich Ludwig von Hahn came from this Holstein family branch. Hahn survived his three brothers, who died without an heir, and thus became the progenitor not only of his house, but also of the Basedow line.
