Lydia Poser

Lydia Poser (born Orban ; born January 30, 1909 in Heidersbach , Suhl district ; † December 30, 1984 in Jena ) was a German politician ( KPD / SED ). She had been the wife of the KPD functionary since September 1936 and anti-fascist resistance fighter Magnus Poser who was murdered in 1944 .

Life

After visiting the elementary school and the Lyceum Poser worked as a stenographer . In 1925 she joined the KJVD . From 1925 to 1933 she was an employee of the KPD district leadership in Jena and Erfurt . From 1927 to 1930 she acted as chairwoman of the KJVD local group Jena. In 1929 she became a member of the KPD. Between 1933 and 1936 she was imprisoned for her anti-fascist activities: as a “ protective prisoner ” in November 1933 in the Weimar District Court prison and from December 1933 to April 1934 in the Bad Sulza concentration camp and after a conviction by the Jena Higher Regional Court for “preparation for high treason ” in April 1934 until April 1936 in the Gräfentonna women's prison . From 1937 to 1941 she again worked as a stenographer, from 1941 to 1945 as a cashier. As Poser's wife she belonged to the innermost circle in the resistance of the Neubauer-Poser group .

From 1945 she worked again as a functionary for the KPD and a member of the party leadership in Jena. Poser actively supported the union of the SPD and KPD . She and her husband had already worked with Social Democrats in the resistance. From 1946 she was a member of the state executive committee of the SED. From May 1946 to 1948 she held the office of mayor of Jena. In the state elections in the Soviet Zone in 1946 , Poser was elected to the Thuringian state parliament and was a member of the presidium there. Between 1948 and 1959 she held various state functions in the state of Thuringia and in the Gera district : She was a member from 1948 to 1950, then from 1950 to 1952 chairwoman of the State Commission for State Control. Between 1952 and 1959 she was chairwoman of the Gera district council , a member of the district assembly and a member of the Gera SED district leadership. In 1959 she resigned from these offices for health reasons. Later she was chairman of the committee of the anti-fascist resistance fighters in the district of Gera.

From 1950 to 1963 she was also a member of the People's Chamber .

Honors

  • At the ceremony for the 400th anniversary of the Friedrich Schiller University Jena in 1958, Poser was made an honorary senator.
  • On January 30, 1974, on her 65th birthday, she was made honorary citizen of the city of Jena. After the fall of the Wall, however, this was revoked by the city council on March 20, 1991.
  • She received the Patriotic Order of Merit in 1954 and 1969 and, in 1978, the Gold Medal for the Patriotic Order of Merit.
