Rudolf Bahmann

Rudolf Bahmann (born February 26, 1929 in Plauen , † September 19, 1977 ) was a German politician of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED) in the German Democratic Republic (GDR). From 1973 to 1977 he was chairman of the Gera district council .

Life

Bahmann, the son of a farmer and a saleswoman , completed an apprenticeship on his parents' farm until 1948. In 1945 he joined the Communist Party of Germany (KPD) and was one of the founders of the Antifa youth in Gera . In 1946 he became a member of the SED and attended the agricultural school in Berga . From 1948 to 1950 Bahmann was an instructor for the SED regional leadership in Thuringia , attended the farming college in Paretz and completed a course at the regional party school in Bad Blankenburg .

In 1950/51, Bahmann was sector manager and from 1952 department head of the SED regional leadership in Thuringia and from 1952 to 1958 Secretary for Agriculture of the SED district leadership in Gera. From 1954 to 1958 he was a member of the Gera district assembly . In June 1958 Bahmann was removed from his post after party proceedings and had to perform a so-called "probation in production". Until 1959 he worked as a tractor operator at the Schlöben machine-tractor station in the Stadtroda district and then became director of the Langenwetzendorf machine-tractor station in the Zeulenroda district .

From 1960 to 1963 Bahmann studied at the party college "Karl Marx" and obtained a diploma in social sciences . 1963/64 he was secretary for agriculture and from 1964 to 1973 first secretary of the SED district leadership in Eisenberg . Bahmann completed a further course of studies at the technical college for agriculture in Stadtroda until 1965 and became a state-certified farmer. From March 1973 until his death he was chairman of the Gera district council. Bahmann died in 1977 at the age of 48 as a result of a traffic accident and was buried in the East Cemetery in Gera.
