action

Mario Bechstein and Henry Malek have actually finished their lives as safe crackers. But in view of their financial situation, they let the little crook Felix Bundschuh persuade them to do one last big coup. A valuable Bible is to be brought from Leipzig to Dresden in the next few days. They want to rob this transport of valuables and then bring the object for sale with the help of the auctioneer Agnes Kopelski, Mario's first wife.

On the day of the attack, everything goes differently than planned. Henry couldn't get rid of his new girlfriend (Commissioner Lissy Wohlbauer of all people) and he hardly gets ready the next morning to get away in time. Only Felix is on time and can, as planned, deposit her self-made smoke bomb under the security van. She is supposed to simulate engine failure on the way, which is supposed to stop the security attendant. Henry and Mario follow the van in a car with forged license plates, Felix in a separate car. You can bring the valuables truck to a stop as planned, steal the suitcase with the Bible and retreat. But a surprise awaits them here, because the suitcase is empty. Henry and Mario now suspect Felix of being in league with the security guards and of having exchanged the suitcase with the Bible for an empty one. When they try to contact him on his cell phone, only the mailbox can be heard and his alleged apartment is completely empty. Henry becomes so suspicious that he even suspects his Lissy of having provided Felix with information. Mario, however, became aware of Meggy during the reports on television, whom Felix had introduced to them as his wife. She is actually the assistant to Prof. Kommsen, of the museum that just exhibited the Bible.

To get out of this, Marios has a plan. He enters into a deal with the police: With his help, both the Bible and the people behind it should be found. They officially announce that Henry and Mario were arrested to keep the actual thieves safe. Mario's ex Agnes is also involved and now arranges the meeting between Felix and the Bible buyer. Mario and Henry are already waiting at the delivery point and quickly take both the Bible and the money. However, the police arrive unexpectedly and arrest everyone: except for Agnes. She had informed Lissy that Mario and Henry wanted to run away with the money in the end. Lissy makes the two of them promise to continue to work with the police in the future, so that they can continue to be released in return. A job as deputy sheriff seems attractive to men of dangerous age .

Reviews

Tilmann P. Gangloff from tittelbach.tv draws the following verdict on this film: “[...] Nevertheless, 'Men of Dangerous Age' is an amusing robber pistol with a crow's foot, tear sac and laugh line. A dignified actor-crook full of surprising twists. "

Prisma.de commented: “Thanks to the charming actors, this rogue comedy is forgiven for one or the other length until it has a funny happy ending. The two main actors Fritz Wepper and Friedrich von Thun, who previously stood in front of the camera in 'Three in Stranger Cushions' (1995) and 'Two Brothers - Nerve War' (1997), skillfully pass the balls here.
