Mathias von Brudzewo-Mielzynski ( pseudonym : Nowina Doliwa ; * October 13, 1869 as Maciej Ignacy Przecław Mielżyński in Köbnitz ( Chobienice ) near Bomst , Province of Posen ; † January 9, 1944 in Vienna ) was a Polish politician and officer, most recently lieutenant colonel of Cavalry and Polish leader in the Third Polish Uprising in Upper Silesia (1921) and member of the German Reichstag (1903–1914).

Life

Mathias was the son of Joseph von Brudzewo-Mielzynski (1824-1900), a manor owner and member of the Prussian manor house . He attended high school in Berlin, Schneidemühl and Lissa . After school he studied at the University of Munich and was a painter in Munich. This was followed by his service as an officer in the Guard Leib-Kürassier-Regiment "Großer Kurfürst" (Silesian) No. 1 in Breslau . In 1896 he left the regiment à la suite for a year. After he left in 1897, he worked as a farmer on his manor in Köbnitz (Chobienice). He also worked as a publicist for Polish newspapers in the political and literary field .

In the Reichstag elections of the German Empire in 1903 he was elected as a member of the German Reichstag via the Polish list in the constituency administrative district Posen 2 ( district Samter , district Birnbaum , district Obornik and district Schwerin (Warthe) ) .

On January 4, 1914, he resigned from his mandate . His successor as MP was the Poznan prelate Joseph Klos (1870-1938). He resigned on charges of murder. Mielzynski shot his wife and nephew in Dakowy Mokre because of an adulterous relationship.

During his leadership role in the Third Upper Silesian Uprising in 1921, he carried the pseudonym Nowina Doliwa .
