The Magdeburger Hütte (also Schneespitzhütte , Alte Magdeburger Hütte , Italian Rifugio Cremona alla Stua ) is a mountain hut in the Stubai Alps in South Tyrol . It is located at the end of the Pflersch Valley at an altitude of 2423 m on the eastern flank of the Schneespitze . The Stubensee is just below the hut .
The hut was built in 1887 by the Magdeburg section of the DuÖAV . In 1922 the section was expropriated. In 1980 the hut was last rebuilt. Today the hut is maintained by the Sterzing Section of the CAI .
Approach and tour options
The ascent to the hut starts from the Pflersch Valley . The highest starting point is the Stein car park (1450 m). From there you have to walk 2½ hours.
The following peaks can be approached from the hut:
- Weißwandspitze (3017 m), 2 hours
- Schneespitze (3178 m), 2½ hours
- Feuersteine (3267 m or 3245 m), 5 hours
- Agglsspitze (3194 m), 3½ hours
- Schafkampspitze (3016 m), 2½ hours
Marked transitions to the following huts are possible:
- Tribulaunhütte (2368 m), 3 hours
- Bremer Hütte (2411 m), 5 hours, over the Simmingferner
- Teplitzer Hut (2586 m), 5 hours over the Magdeburger Scharte
The three-hour transition to the Tribulaunhütte, which is also known as the Kleiner Pflerscher Höhenweg and is part of the fifth stage of the Tyrolean Höhenweg, is often used . The southern flank of the Weißwandspitze is crossed and the Hohe Zahn (2925 m) crossed. The Weißwandspitze can be climbed via the south ridge with an additional effort of about an hour.
history
In 1883, Albert Wachtler, the director of the Bozen section of the German and Austrian Alpine Club , suggested the construction of this first AV refuge in the southern Stubai Alps. In 1885 the Magdeburg Section acquired the building site and began building the hut, which was finally opened on August 17, 1887. This first, as yet unmanaged building already offered space for up to 40 people, and there was even a separate ladies' room. In 1898 the hut was expanded and from then on it was also managed. In 1923 it was expropriated and given to the Club Alpino Italiano (CAI). In the Second World War it was abandoned and operated until 1948 again. From 1965 to 1970 it was occupied by the Italian military. The following year, the CAI expanded the hut, and since 1976 it has been supplied by a material cable car and powered by its own diesel generator.
