This means that it is located in the southwestern part of the Karwendel in the Tyrolean district of Innsbruck-Land . Because of the panoramic location and the tour options, the Neue Magdeburger Hütte is a destination for hikers and a base for mountaineers who want to go on tours lasting several days. There are several crossings, the best known is probably the Freiungen-Höhenweg , which leads to the Nördlinger Hütte . The hut is closed in winter, but there is a heated winter room in the adjoining building for ski tourers . Ski tours in the area should only be undertaken when conditions are safe from avalanches and only by experienced winter mountaineers.
history
Originally, the area around the hut was used as a mountain mower (meadows for the production of hay), later an alp was created here, the Martinsbergalm . Then the Alm was bought by an entrepreneur who used it as a property for his adjoining hunting area. The Magdeburg section of the German Alpine Club later bought the Alm and the hunting lodge and converted it into a refuge. After the Second World War, the Geltendorf Section took over the hut, and the name Neue Magdeburger Hütte was retained. Since the 1980s, the hut has been expanded and renovated several times; In addition to the extensions, the water supply was also improved. In addition, a fully biological sewage treatment plant and a photovoltaic system were installed to protect the environment . Thanks to its child-friendliness, the hut was able to successfully qualify for the project of the Alpine Club With children in huts and is an integral part of it.
