The Solsteinhaus , opened in 1914, is an Alpine Club hut belonging to the Austrian Alpine Club at 1806  m above sea level. A. on the Erlsattel between Nordkette and Erlspitzgruppe . The hut was completely renovated in 2007. It is located in the western Karwendel in Tyrol, not far from the state capital Innsbruck . Because of its central location and the numerous tour options, the hut is a base for mountaineers on multi-day tours, but also on many summit climbs. In addition, the hut is popular as a destination for hikers who can easily take a day tour to the hut. The hut is closed in winter, but a winter room is available for ski tourers. When conditions are safe from avalanches , high-alpine ski tours can be undertaken on the surrounding peaks, but these invariably require solid experience.

Visit from Bear Bruno / JJ1

In the evening hours of June 7, 2006, JJ1 , known as "Bear Bruno", was spotted at the Solsteinhaus. The next day, several 15 to 20 centimeter prints of bear paws were found next to the building.
