The white wall peak ( Italian : Parete Bianca ) is a 3017 m above sea level. A. high mountain in the Stubai Alps .
The summit of the Weißwandspitze lies on the main Alpine ridge, which also forms the border between the Austrian state of Tyrol and the Italian province of South Tyrol , between the Gschnitz and Pflersch valleys . To the west is the 3001 m high Schafkampspitze , to the east the 2924 m high Hohe Zahn .
To the north-west, south and east run sharply pronounced ridges that separate the steep north-east and south-east walls from the broad south-west flank. Below the northeast face above the Gamsschrofen there is a steep field of firn.
geology
The summit structure is formed by Triassic, dolomitized carbonates . With their light color, these form a sharp contrast to the underlying, polymetamorphic overprinted primary rock ( paragneiss ) and thus shape the characteristic appearance of the whitewall tip, which also gave it its name.
Tyrolean high path
The Tiroler Höhenweg (Via Alta) leads between Tribulaunhütte and Magdeburger Hütte through the southwest flank and along the distinctive border between primeval and limestone through the southeast face of the Weißwandspitze. From this path a trail ( UIAA I ) leads through the southwest flank to the summit. The east ridge (II) and the rockfall endangered north face (IV) are less used.
