Mainz youth masked parade

The Mainzer Jugendmaskenzug claims to be "the greatest Jugendmaskenzug Europe" .

Since 1957, mainly children and young people from Mainz kindergartens, schools and youth organizations have taken part in the carnival parade .

In contrast to the Mainz Rose Monday procession , the organizer is mainzplus CITYMARKETING . This announces the motto of the next youth mask train to the participating schools after the autumn break.

An independent jury will evaluate the best costume ideas and their implementation during the parade in the criteria of “youthful appearance, originality in idea and execution as well as overall impression when marching past”. Most of the rewards come from Carnival corporations and Mainz companies . In addition, each registered and participating group receives a prize.

The youth masked parade was broadcast on SWR television from 1977 to 2018 . In 2019, the train was not transferred due to the move forward.

The Jugendmaskenzug launched until 2018 on Saturday before Carnival Monday at 14:11 in the Mainz Neustadt . From 2019, the train will be rescheduled because there is a collision with the Rhineland-Palatinate winter holidays, which were planned for the first time this year.

Installation in Leibnizstrasse - Josefstrasse and Boppstrasse.

Then the train route runs in: Kaiserstraße Neustadtseite - around the town house - Kaiserstraße old town side - Gärtnergasse - Große Bleiche - Münsterplatz - Schillerstraße - Schillerplatz - Ludwigsstraße - Höfchen - Schöfferstraße - Schusterstraße - Flachsmarkt - Flachsmarktstraße - Petersstraße - The train dissolves at the Anne Frank Realschule .

Swearing in recruits

After the youth mask parade , the foolish swearing-in of recruits takes place in front of the Mainz State Theater on Gutenbergplatz , on Prince Carneval, Prince Jokus and on Weck, Worscht un Woi , with the slogan "Meenzer Blut is kaa Buttermilch".
