Manuel Perovic

Manuel Perovic (* 1973 ) is a Swiss composer and arranger .

Manuel Perovci studied from 1993 at the Winterthur Conservatory with concentration in performance and theory. From 1996 to 1999 he continued his studies at Berklee College of Music in Boston with Greg Hopkins and Phil Wilson ( Bachelor of Music in Jazz Composition with distinction). In 2000 he won a scholarship to the Henri Mancini Institute of Music in Los Angeles , where he deepened his composition studies with Jack Smalley , Manny Albam and Hans Zimmer . Then he studied classical composition with Thomas David Müller and Daniel Glaus at the Zurich University of the Arts .

In 1999 and 2000 he was represented with his arrangements on the annual Best of Berklee Studio Production Project CD. In addition to orchestrating big bands such as Marc Secara and his Berlin Jazz Orchestra , the Jürg Wickihalder Orchestra and the Streule Jazz Orchestra , he was also active as a composer for commercials, short films and other projects. He has also been teaching music theory and listening training at the Zurich Jazz School and the Zurich University of the Arts since 2002 .

Prizes and awards

Perovic won first prize at the USA Songwriting Competition in 2000; the following year he became a finalist in the instrumental and jazz categories .
