Marat Saidowitsch Ganejew

Marat Saidowitsch Ganejew , also Marat Ganeyev, Marat Ganeev, Marat Ganeïev , ( Russian Марат Саидович Ганеев ; born December 6, 1964 in Naberezhnye Chelny ) is a former Soviet , later Russian cyclist and current sports director .

As an amateur he started for the ZOP Kuibyshev club . 1981 Marat Ganejew champion of juniors in the Team Pursuit and vice-champion in the individual pursuit , the following year he was able to repeat his success in the individual pursuit. In 1985 he won bronze with the Soviet four-wheeler at the World Railroad Championships in Bassano del Grappa , won the Tour of Morocco and took second place in the overall ranking of the Tour of Greece . In 1986 he was third on the Tour of Egypt .

In 1987 Ganeev became world champion of the amateurs in the points race . The following year he won the bronze medal in this discipline at the Olympic Games in Seoul and was also national champion.

In 1990 Marat Ganejew joined the professionals and drove for German and Belgian teams, among others. He then started in 33 six-day races, one of which he won, the 1992 one in Moscow , together with Konstantin Kravzov . In 1995 he was third in the National Sluitingsprijs . In 1998 he ended his cycling career. Since the beginning of the 2012 season he has been in the sporting management of the Rusvelo women's cycling team .
