life and career
Marc Klein has worked in the film business in various functions since the mid-1990s. He began in 1993 as a personal assistant to screenwriter and producer Paul Aaron on the television film Laurel Avenue directed by Carl Franklin . In 1995, he filled the same role for director Jon Turteltaub on the set of the Sandra Bullock comedy While You Were Sleeping Again. With these valuable experiences, Klein wrote the screenplay for the film Because There You Are by director Peter Chelsom in 2001 . The film, a pointed and intelligently staged romantic comedy starring John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale , was very successful at the box office and brought in many times its budget.
In 2006, director Ridley Scott commissioned him to write the screenplay for his film A Good Year , a romantic drama starring Russell Crowe , Albert Finney and Marion Cotillard , and to travel to the south of France for research purposes. To this end, Klein worked with Peter Mayle , who wrote the novel.
In 2007, Klein directed Upper East Side Love , a comedy starring Sarah Michelle Gellar and Alec Baldwin, in his first feature-length film.
In 2012 he and Jason Keller wrote the screenplay for the film production Spieglein Spieglein - The Really True Story of Snow White with Julia Roberts for the filmmaker Tarsem Singh .
