After Hujić had already been awarded the NBBL's Most Valuable Player (MVP) as a middle-class NBBL year-old in 1997 , the Hagen team was also given a chance to win the title. But as in 2012 and 2013, the NBBL team from Phoenix Hagen lost in the semi-finals, this time very close after two extra times against the offspring from Eintracht Frankfurt. Kessen's performance with 18 points and rebounds in this game was surpassed by his " nemesis " Niklas Kiel, who now played in Frankfurt and got 24 points and 22 rebounds. The two opponents then played together in the youth national team in the summer of 2015 and achieved a respectable eighth place in the U18 European Championship finals in Greece after two years in a comparatively very talented team, which also included the younger Isaiah Hartenstein was previously sixth in the U16 European Championship finals. After Grof's retirement due to age and Hujić's due to a change of club, the NBBL team from Phoenix has little chance of participating in the final again in 2016.

By means of a double license , Keßen played individual games in the 1st Regionalliga West from 2012 with the men of the former second division club TuS Iserlohn Kangaroos, who is also trained by his youth coach Grothe. In 2014, NOMA Kangaroos returned to the 2nd basketball league , in which the third-highest division, ProB 2014/15, was promoted to the first main place in the group south. Keßen, who was not yet 18 at the beginning of the season, had an average of 17 minutes of playing time in 21 main round games, in which he got a good seven points and four rebounds per game for the men. In the promotion play-offs they were eliminated in the semi-final series against the north third SC Rist Wedel and then renounced the promotion that was still possible. After Keßen was able to assert himself in the third highest division, he was already used by Phoenix head coach Ingo Freyer at the end of the 2014/15 Bundesliga basketball season alongside his long-time teammate Jonas Grof in the top German division. He made his debut in the penultimate game of the season and, together with an appearance in the last game of the season, had an average playing time of just under ten minutes. Faced with a budget-related shortage of players in the frontcourt that Kessen in was expected Basketball League 2015/16 much more regular also comes in the German top flight for use. The BAWE syndicate with the Oldenburger TB serves the Bundesliga club EWE Baskets Oldenburg as a youth team. Via the ProB team, he should recommend himself for assignments in Oldenburg's Bundesliga squad. In May 2017 he was appointed to the squad of the German U20 national team.
