Jonas Georg Grof (born May 3, 1996 in Herdecke ) is a German basketball player . He is under contract with the Gladiators Trier .

Grof was trained in the youth teams of Phoenix Hagen and later played for the men's team in the top German basketball division .

Career

Jonas Grof is the son of Elmar Grof , who, during his active time as a former German national basketball player, played for SSV Hagen in the top German division as well as for the second division teams TV Salzkotten and TuS Iserlohn. Earlier in his career was Jonas Grof as a 16-year-old student in 2012 even with his father on the field in the men's team of the parent association of Boele cable in the basketball league, which in WBV sixth-highest division in the men. Together with his Boeler teammate Marcel Keßen , the youth selection player also played in the junior teams of the first division club Phoenix Hagen, where he was trained by the former Phoenix team captain Matthias Grothe and his father. During Grof's year abroad, NOMA Kangaroos, based in TuS Iserlohn, managed to return to the 2nd basketball league under coach Matthias Grothe , where they initially competed in the ProB 2014/15 in the south group of the third-highest German men's division. After his return, Grof now also competed under his former youth coach with the men by means of a double license in the ProB, where the promoted team reached first place after the main round. Grof averaged a good nine points, four rebounds and almost three assists per game in 26 ProB games . In the play-offs for promotion, Grof was the “match winner” with his best scoring of the season in a game with 28 points in the away win in the quarter-finals against the Dresden Titans . In the following semifinal series, however, they lost against the north third SC Rist Wedel and then renounced the promotion that was still possible. Grof had also trained in the first division team in Phoenix and was finally used in another five games at the end of the season after the first division debut in the away win at MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg in November 2014, so that he finally had an average playing time of over ten in the six appearances Minutes per game came up. In the 2015/16 season, thanks to the double license, Grof was still entitled to play in the ProB with the NOMA Kangaroos and played twelve season games for the Iserlohner, but played primarily in the top division at Phoenix (33 season appearances with average values ​​of 3.5 points and 2 , 3 rebounds per game).

At the U20 Euro 2016 in Finland, Grof reached fourth place with the German team.

In the 2016/17 season he made ten appearances at Hagen in the Bundesliga before the team was withdrawn from play due to insolvency at the end of November 2016. On January 2, 2017, Grof was announced as a new addition by the Oettinger Rockets Gotha from the 2nd Bundesliga ProA . In spring 2017, he celebrated promotion to the Bundesliga with the Thuringians as runner-up. He contributed to this success with averages of 2.9 points and 1.9 rebounds (in 25 missions).

In the summer of 2017 he was appointed to the German A2 national team for the first time. For the 2017/18 season he returned to Phoenix Hagen (now in the ProA). In August 2017 he was part of the German student national team for the Summer Universiade 2017 in Taipei , in September 2018 he made his debut in the senior national team in the international match against Turkey at the Supercup in Hamburg . In the second division season 2018/19, Grof was the best basket preparer for Hagen (5.1 per match), and he also scored an average of 11.2 points per game. At the Summer Universiade 2019 in Naples , he came fifth with the German selection.

At the end of May 2020, Hagen's second division competitor Gladiators Trier announced Grof's commitment.
