Marcus Melzwig

Marcus Melzwig (born June 14, 1979 in Leipzig ) is a German actor and singer.

Life

Melzwig grew up in Leipzig. In addition to attending school, he learned to play the violin from 1988 to 1997 at the Johann Sebastian Bach Music School . In 2000 he began training as a medical assistant for half a year .

From 2002 to 2007 he studied drama at the Rostock University of Music and Theater . Melzwig was a member of the ensemble at the Rostock Volkstheater while still a student . From 2009, various guest contracts followed at the Volkstheater Rostock, the Gerhart-Hauptmann-Theater Görlitz-Zittau , the Berliner Ensemble , the Theater Junge Generation Dresden, the Theater Oberhausen and the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Festival .

While still studying, Melzwig founded the vocal trio Muttis Kinder with fellow students Claudia Graue and Christopher Nell . From 2007 to 2019 they performed regularly with their programs nationally and internationally in theaters as well as on cabaret stages and festivals. Marcus Melzwig took over the baritone part there . The trio received numerous prizes and awards, including the Wilhelmshavener Knurrhahn (2015), the Freiburg director of the Freiburg Cultural Exchange (2011) and the Ward Swingle Award Graz (2010). The trio provided the music for the ARD's Simeliberg, which was honored as Radio Play of the Month January 2018 .

From 2013 to 2017, Marcus Melzwig took on speaking roles in radio plays for the radio stations SWR and Deutschlandfunk Kultur .

Melzwig lives in Dortmund and is married to the German actress Caroline Hanke. The couple has two children.
