Marcus Nispel

Marcus Nispel (born May 26, 1963 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German director .

Life

Marcus Nispel attended the Leibniz School in Frankfurt-Höchst . After working in the advertising industry as Art Director for Young & Rubicam in Frankfurt, he came to the USA in 1984 with a Fulbright scholarship . He made his directorial debut in 1989 with music videos for C + C Music Factory and founded the production company Portfolio Artists Network in New York City . As a music video director , he has worked with artists such as George Michael , Cher , Janet Jackson , Puff Daddy , Faith No More , Simply Red , No Doubt , Nina Hagen and Mylène Farmer . He also produced numerous commercials .

He was nominated twelve times for his music videos at the MTV Video Music Awards and won four times, including in 1993 for George Michaels Killer / Papa was a Rolling Stone .

As a director, Nispel is best known for the remake of the film Blood Court in Texas under the name Michael Bay's Texas Chainsaw Massacre .

After the Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Pathfinder , his next work in 2009 was a remake of Friday the 13th.

Since 2010 Nispel has been working on a remake of the barbarian film Conan the Barbarian with Jason Momoa in the role of the title character. The film opened in German cinemas on September 8, 2011.

On January 13, 2012, Relativity Media announced that Nispel was replacing director Matt Pizzolo for the comic book adaptation Hack / Slash.
