Lady Chapel

The Marienkapelle is a chapel dedicated to Mary, mother of Jesus , in Walkerszell , a district of the market town of Pleinfeld in the central Franconian district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen . The building is registered under the monument number D-5-77-161-120 as an architectural monument in the Bavarian monument list.

The building is on the Veiter Wegfeld corridor not far east of the village above the Walkerszeller Bach at an altitude of 409 meters above  sea ​​level . The chapel is a small, massive hipped roof building with a protruding roof. On August 15th ( Assumption of the Virgin Mary ) there will be a pilgrimage on foot from the Church of St. Johann Baptist to the chapel.

It was built in 1712 by the farmer Brendl and expanded in 1739. The chapel is looked after by the local Lierheimer family. The baroque stucco ceiling is unique in northern Bavaria.
