history
A church that little is known about must have existed in Blasheim as early as the 14th century. As a branch church, it belonged to St. Andreas Abbey in Lübbecke. The Counts of Tecklenburg are considered to be the founders of the church .
1491 raised the Mindener bishop Heinrich III. from Schauenburg Blasheim to an independent parish to which the farmers Stockhausen , Eikel , Knöttinghausen and Obermehnen also belonged.
The Blasheimer Markt emerged from the parish fair .
Building history
Originally there was a late Romanesque hall church with a west tower in Blasheim , the exact construction time of which is unknown. Using its walls, the conversion to a two-aisled , three-bay hall church in the late Gothic style began in 1493 . The west tower on the (then) south aisle bears the year 1514.
In 1659 a vestry with a 3/8 end was added on the east side of the north aisle .
In 1910 there was an extension in the neo-Gothic style: Another nave was added on the south side, so the Marienkirche now appears as a three-aisled hall church and the tower is located on the central nave. A choir was added to the east of the church .
Interior
The late Gothic carved altar in a version from the Renaissance dates from the construction of the church at the end of the 15th century .
