The Marittima is an excursion ship operated by the Böttcher Schifffahrt shipping company in Lübeck . It is used for trips from the Lübeck district of Travemünde . For several decades it was used as a ferry on the North Sea , Baltic Sea and the Atlantic Ocean .

history

As Moby Dick in Flensburg (1971)

The ship was built as Schleswig-Holstein by the Husum shipyard ; the keel was laid on December 4, 1957. The ship was launched on February 22, 1958 and was handed over to the Wyker Dampfschiffs-Reederei Föhr-Amrum GmbH (WDR) on May 30 of the same year . The ship drove in the ferry traffic between Dagebüll , Wyk auf Föhr and Wittdün on Amrum and was also used from there in Heligoland traffic. Home port was Wyk auf Föhr. In 1968 the ship was chartered to the Havfrue Linien company and then used between Copenhagen and Malmö . In the same year it was renamed Uthlande .

In 1970 the Flensburger Personenschiffahrt in Flensburg acquired the ship and from then on used it as a butter ship under the name Moby Dick on the Flensburg Fjord . In the same year it went to the KG Seetouristik in Flensburg. In 1973 it was chartered to the Förde shipping company , also in Flensburg; In 1975 the Förde shipping company bought the ship, which now operated between Flensburg and Glücksburg . In 1976 the name was Moby Dick I expanded. In 1977 the salon area was converted for the first time. In 1986 the ship was chartered to Nordsee Touristik Potratz & Co. in Cuxhaven and used from Bremerhaven .

In 1987 Transnavio Schiffahrts GmbH & Co in Bremen acquired the ship. From then on it drove for several years as Puerto Rico under the Spanish flag in the Canary Islands area . In 1989 it was named Puerto Mogan and from 1990 it operated for Lineas Turisticas de Gran Canaria SA , Las Palmas . In the same year it was transferred to Germany. In 1993, the shipping company Böttcher Schiffahrt in Lübeck acquired the ship, which was now called Marittima . At first it was used for sales trips between Travemünde and Warnemünde . In 1994 it was sold to SVG Schiffahrt , Lübeck, for one year before it came back to Böttcher Schiffahrt . In 2000 the steel sections were rebuilt, in 2005 the salon areas were rebuilt again; the upper saloon area was significantly extended. In 2017/2018 the ship was deployed from Warnemünde and Kühlungsborn . In 2019 it will be used several times a day for one-hour excursions from Travemünde.

The home port of the Marittima is Lübeck.

Technical specifications

The ship is powered by two MaK MSU36 diesel engines, which together produce 359 kW. It reaches a maximum of 11 knots. The number of passengers is given by the shipping company with 200 and an additional 200 seats on the sun deck, older sources name 649 passengers or 432 in Heligoland traffic.
