Mark Garside (born March 21, 1989 in East Kilbride , Scotland ) is a British ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Belfast Giants in the Elite Ice Hockey League since 2010 .

Career

Mark Garside comes from the youth department of the Edinburgh Capitals , for which he made his debut at the age of 17 in the Elite Ice Hockey League , the top division in the United Kingdom . In 2008 he was voted "Young British Player of the Year". In 2010 he moved to league rivals Belfast Giants . With the team from the Northern Irish capital, he became British champions in 2012 and 2014 by winning the main round of the Elite Ice Hockey League . In 2015 he reached the third round of the IIHF Continental Cup with the Giants and only missed the finals due to the fewer goals scored in a direct comparison with the Association des Sports de Glisse d'Angers and the eventual overall winner HK Njoman Hrodna .

International

For Great Britain , Garside took part in the junior division in Division I of the U18 World Cup in 2007 and the U20 World Cup in 2007 and 2008 as well as in Division II of the U20 World Cup in 2009 .

In the senior sector, he was in his country's squad at the World Championships in Division I in 2010 , 2012 , 2014 , 2015 , 2016 and 2017 . Garside also took part in the qualifying tournaments for the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi in 2014 and in Pyongchang in 2018 for Great Britain .
