Markus John

Markus John (born February 17, 1962 in Duisburg ) is a German theater, film and television actor .

Life

Born in Duisburg in 1962 , John initially trained at the “Zinner-Studio” drama school in Munich. He then signed up at the Bayerisches Staatsschauspiel , the Stadttheater Bern , Thalia Theater (Hamburg) , the Nationaltheater Mannheim , the Berliner Ensemble and the Deutsches Theater Berlin . From 1997 to 2009 John was a permanent member of the ensemble at the Schauspiel Köln . Since the 2009/2010 season he has been part of the ensemble of the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg. For his portrayal of the title role of Oedipus there , he was awarded the Rolf Mares Prize in 2013 in the category of outstanding performance actor / singer / dancer . In the 2014/15 season he made a guest appearance at the Hanover Theater, where he participated in Dušan David Pařízek's production of Maria Stuart by Friedrich Schiller .
