Markus Münch (born September 7, 1972 in Nussloch ) is a former German soccer player and today's horse trainer.

Career

societies

From his youth club SV Sandhausen to the youth department of FC Bayern Munich , Münch was promoted to the professional squad of FC Bayern in 1990 . Before his Bundesliga debut, he played in the quarter-finals of the European Cup in March 1991 . In his first Bundesliga season he was used twice.

After three seasons and 36 league games, he moved to Bayer 04 Leverkusen , for which he played for two years and where he scored his first Bundesliga goal in December 1994. His most important goal was the late equalization to 1-1 in the 82nd minute against 1. FC Kaiserslautern on May 18, 1996 (34th matchday). With this result, his club remained first class, while Kaiserslautern was relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga . After that came Münch for one season back to Bayern, played in the second half of the season 1997/98 for 1. FC Cologne and moved to the descent of Cologne to Italy for second division club FC Genoa . At the beginning of the 1999/2000 season, Hans-Peter Briegel brought him to the Turkish club Beşiktaş Istanbul . After two seasons in Turkey , Münch returned to Germany to play for Borussia Mönchengladbach . After two more seasons he moved abroad to Greece for free . With Panathinaikos Athens he won the double in the first year and ended his active football career there a year later.

National team

Münch made his debut in the U-20 national team at the side of Markus Babbel and Dieter Frey on January 29, 1991 in a 3-0 victory over Portugal. His last game for this selection he played on February 1, 1991 in the 1: 2 defeat against the selection of Spain.

On April 21, 1992 in the 1-1 game in Pilsen against the Czech U-21 team , Münch made his international debut for the U-21 national team . He scored his first goal in the national jersey on December 22, 1992 in Bielefeld in a 4-1 win over Albania . On December 14, 1993, the U-21s lost 3-1 in Cordoba against Spain ; it was Münch's last game. Although he was nominated twelve times, he never came to a use in the senior team.

Münch has been the owner, breeder and trainer of English thoroughbreds since 2001 . His training facility has been in Frankfurt since 2012. With his mare Intarsia , bred at Gestüt Schlenderhan , he achieved his first major success on August 8, 2010 in Hanover with a list win .
