Markus Stadler (born December 24, 1948 in Altdorf ; legal resident in Altdorf and Schattdorf ) is a Swiss politician ( glp ).

biography

Stadler studied economics at the University of St. Gallen (HSG) and graduated in 1974 with a licentiate . He then worked as an economics assistant at the HSG and received his doctorate in 1978. He stayed in the United States until 1981 and completed a study on institutionalism at Michigan State University and the University of California, Berkeley . From 1981 to 1983 he was freelance in St. Gallen and a specialist teacher.

From 1983 to 2000 he worked as a director's secretary, finance and pension fund administrator for the Canton of Uri . From 1985 to 1988 he was on the Bürglen school board , most recently as president. In 2000 he became an independent consultant for organizational and financial issues in the public sector and in the same year he was elected to the government council, where he initially worked as director of health, social and environmental protection, and from 2004 as director of finance. From 2004 to 2006 he was also provincial governor and from 2006 to 2008 mayor of the canton.

In April 2010 he was elected to the Council of States to succeed Hansruedi Stadler . After his election he wanted to join the CVP / EPP / glp group . To achieve this, he decided to join the Green Liberal Party . In November 2011, the Uri people confirmed him in office for another four years. He did not run again in the 2015 elections to the Council of States.

Stadler lives in Bürglen. He is married and has two sons.
