Martin Mesotitsch (born January 19, 1983 in Villach ) is a former Austrian biathlete and cross-country skier .

Martin Mesotitsch, brother of Daniel Mesotitsch , lives in St. Jakob and starts for Union Rosenbach . The sports soldier is trained by Wolfgang Korosec. He started his career as a cross-country skier. He made his debut in the Continental Cup on December 9, 2000 in Campra , Switzerland , when he was 58th over 10 kilometers in the classic technique. His best placement was a 44th place on January 4, 2002 in Furtwangen in the Black Forest . His only World Cup start was on December 29, 2001 in Salzburg when he was 55th in the sprint. At the Junior World Championships in 2001 in Karpacz , Poland , he was 71st over 10 kilometers in the classic technique. A year later he was at the Junior World Championships in Schonach in the Black Forest 51st in the sprint and over 10 kilometers in free technique.

He started biathlon in 2002, and in 2003 he competed in his first Junior European Cup race. In Haute-Maurienne he took part in the Junior World Championship and was 48th in the individual and 45th in the sprint. Shortly afterwards he started in Minsk at the Junior European Championships and was there 26th in the individual and 20th in the sprint race.

In 2004 Mesotitsch ran his first race in the European Biathlon Cup . He contested his first race in Obertilliach , where he finished 30th in the sprint. In the following years he also took part regularly in the European Cup and its successor, the IBU Cup. The Austrian achieved his first top ten result and his best result so far in 2006 in Gurnigel . The first major event among men was the 2006 European Biathlon Championships in Langdorf , where Mesotitsch was 62nd of the sprint. In 2009 he ran his second European Championship in Ufa . He finished 37th in the Individual, 22nd in the Sprint, and 24th in the Pursuit. The following season he made his debut in the Biathlon World Cup in Antholz and was 63rd in an individual. In the further course of the World Cup weekend, he improved his results in the sprint to 59th place and in the pursuit race based on it to 56th place.

After Mesotitsch had completed his last biathlon competition in 2010, he turned back to cross-country skiing and finished eleventh over 30 kilometers in free technique at the Austrian championships in Eisenerz in March 2017 . He completed his last race on February 4, 2018 at the traditional cross-country ski run Toblach – Cortina , in which he was tenth.
