Martin Meyer (publicist)

Martin Meyer (born October 4, 1951 in Zurich ) is a Swiss journalist , publicist , essayist and book author. From 1992 to 2015 he was the feature editor of the Neue Zürcher Zeitung .

Life

Martin Meyer studied in Zurich literature , philosophy and history and graduated in 1976 with the promotion of Dr. phil. from. In 1974 he became an editor in the features section of the Neue Zürcher Zeitung , and in 1992 he became Hanno Helbling's successor as head of the department. In addition to his journalistic work, Martin Meyer has published several books as an author and editor, including a. an extensive monograph on Ernst Jünger (1990), a volume of Conversations with Alfred Brendel (2001) and a portrait of Albert Camus (2013). Since 1998 he has been a member of the German Academy for Language and Poetry in Darmstadt . From 1992 to the end of 2015 he was the head of the arts section of the NZZ, his successor is the philosopher René Scheu . He was married to the publicist Ursula Pia Jauch until 2010 .
