Martin Ness (born March 28, 1993 in Uster ) is a Swiss ice hockey player who also has German citizenship. He has been part of the SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers squad in the National League since January 2018 .

career

Ness went through the youth department of the Zürcher SC and made his debut for the GCK Lions , the youth development team of the ZSC Lions , in the National League B (NLB) in the 2011/12 season . He did not make the leap into the Zurich team in the National League A.

In 2014 he moved to Friborg-Gottéron and played for the Üechtländer in the NLA. At the beginning of the 2015/16 season he was mostly  on the ice for the NLB club HC Ajoie thanks to a B license . In December 2015, Ness was signed by SC Bern . He stayed at SCB for a year and became Swiss champion with him in 2016 . In December 2016 he switched to the Krefeld Pinguinen in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL).

At the end of January 2018 he went back to Switzerland and joined the second division club SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers , with whom he became champions and promoted to the National League . At the beginning of May 2018, his contract in Rapperswil was extended. At the Spengler Cup 2018 he joined the Nürnberg Ice Tigers on loan .

National team

Ness played in the Swiss national team from the age range U16 and was also a member of the U17, U18, U19 and U20 “national team”. He took part in the 2013 World Cup with the Swiss U20 team.
