Martina Mara

Martina Mara (* 1981 in Linz or St. Martin , Traun ) is an Austrian media psychologist . Since April 2018 she has been Professor of Robot Psychology at the Linz Institute of Technology (LIT) at the Johannes Kepler University Linz .

Life

Martina Mara attended school in Linz and after graduating from the University of Vienna studied journalism and communication science , graduating in 2008 with a thesis on Narcissus in Cyberspace? Online survey on the relationship between narcissistic personality disposition and use of the social network site studiVZ as Magistra. In 2014 she did her doctorate at the University of Koblenz-Landau with a dissertation on the perception of human-like machines.

From 2004 to 2007 she worked as a print journalist, from 2008 she was a freelance copywriter and research assistant in the field of applied technology and social research in connection with new technologies and media, including at the Institute of Design Research Vienna (until 2011) and from 2010 as Senior Researcher for the Ars Electronica Futurelab. Since 2010 she has been a lecturer at the Johannes Kepler University Linz , the University of Applied Arts Vienna , the University of Art and Industrial Design Linz , the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences , the Technical University of Munich and the Munich University of Applied Sciences . Since 2014 she has headed the RoboPsychology research department at the Ars Electronica Futurelab in Linz , and since 2016 she has been writing the weekly column "Brave New World" for the Upper Austrian News about the social effects of new technologies and digital media. Since August 2017 she has also been a member of the newly founded Austrian Council for Robotics of the Ministry of Infrastructure .

On April 1, 2018, she was appointed professor of robot psychology at the Linz Institute of Technology at the University of Linz , where she previously worked as a research project assistant at the Department of Work, Organizational and Media Psychology (AOM Psychology). In November 2018 she was appointed to the board of the Ludwig Boltzmann Society .
