Martynas Šlikas (born November 21, 1977 in Rokiškis , Lithuanian SSR ) is a former Lithuanian ice hockey player who last played until 2015 for Energija Elektrėnai in the Belarusian Wysschaja Liga , the country's second-highest division.

Career

Clubs

Martynas Šlikas began his career as a hockey player in Elektrėnai with the Lithuanian record champions SC Energija , for whom he first played in the then East European Hockey League . From 1998 to 2001 he played in his native city for Nemunas Rokiškis in the Lithuanian league . During the 2000/01 season he returned to Energija and played there until his retirement in 2015. Initially, he was again active with the club in the East European Hockey League. He played in the Latvian league during the 2000s and became the top scorer there in 2009. After winning the Lithuanian league with the club from Elektrėnai in 2013 , he spent the last two years of his career with the club in the Belarusian Wysschaja Liga , the country's second-highest division.

International

For Lithuania, Šlikas took part in the junior division at the U18-C European Championship in 1994 and the U18-C2 European Championship in 1995, as well as the U20-C2 World Championship in 1995 and the U20-D World Championship in 1997 .

He made his debut in the Lithuanian men's national team at the 1998 World Cup . In group C he also played at the 1999 and 2000 World Championships . After switching to the current division system, he was on the ice for the Balts in 2001 , 2005 , 2006 , 2007 , 2008 , 2009 , 2010 and 2013 . At the 2004 World Cup , he played in Division II. He also represented his colors in the qualifying tournaments for the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin and 2010 in Vancouver .
