Marwan Mohsen Fahmy Tharwat Gamaleldin Mahmoud Fahmy ( Arabic مروان محسن فهمي ثروت, DMG Marwān Muḥsin Fahmī Ṯarwat ; * February 26, 1989 in Cairo ) is an Egyptian soccer player . The striker has been under contract with Al Ahly Cairo since 2016 and has played for the Egyptian national team since 2011 .

Career

society

Mohsen moved to the first team of Petrojet SC in 2009 . He played there until 2014 and scored 14 goals in 65 games. On July 10, 2014, he and his national team-mate Hossam Hassan signed a three-year contract with the Portuguese second division club Gil Vicente FC . By 2015 he was on the field in 20 games for the club.

Only a year later Mohsen moved back home and played from now on for Ismaily SC from the Egyptian Premier League . By 2016 he had scored 14 goals in 32 games. He then moved to Al Ahly Cairo, his hometown . On July 21, 2016 it was announced that Mohsen had signed a five-year contract and will therefore be with the club until 2021.

National team

Mohsen's national team career began in 2010 in the U-23. By 2012 he had scored 22 goals in 42 games. In 2012 he took part in the Summer Olympics in London with the Egyptian team . He started four times and scored one goal before they were eliminated by Japan in the quarter-finals. In 2011 he made the leap into the senior national team of Egypt, for which he has played since then. He made his debut on September 3rd in the Africa Cup qualifier against Sierra Leone , in which he scored his first goal directly.

In 2017 he took part in the Africa Cup in Gabon . The team finished second after losing in the final against Cameroon. Mohsen was on the field in a total of four games.

In 2018 he made the jump into the Egyptian squad for the 2018 World Cup , in which Egypt was the last in Group A to be eliminated in the group stage after defeats against Russia , Uruguay and Saudi Arabia . He was used in all three games.
