Mascot (cycle car)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mascot was a Swedish car brand under which cyclecars were marketed around 1920 . The manufacturer was AB Rååverken from Helsingborg .

The mascot was delivered both as a kit car and as a finished car. With the kit, a motorcycle was transformed into a kind of cycle car. Usually an Excelsior with 16 bhp (11.8 kW) V2 engine served as the basis, but motorcycles from Harley-Davidson , Reading Standard or Indian were also used. The steering unit, seat and front wheel were dismantled and the remaining frame with motor and rear wheel were built into a lightweight body that provided the “missing” three wheels. The track width was 1070 mm, the length about 3000 mm and the weight was 275 kg. The vehicle was steered by the steering wheel, had gas and brake pedals, a gear shift lever, windshield, doors, a convertible roof, comfortable seats and a single headlight. There was room for two people in the tandem seat. The whole car looked like the ALC .
