Racing Plast Burträsk was a Swedish manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Kjell Lindskog founded the company in Burträsk in 1965 and began producing automobiles in 1966, including in kit-car form . Another source names Rune Levander and Kjell Lindskog as the founders and gives the year 1966. The brand name was RPB . The tightened registration regulations in Sweden from the summer of 1970 led to the Swedish market for such vehicles collapsing. From 1970 to 1971, some vehicles were made to Finland and Norwayexported. A fire in May 1971 caused production to be interrupted for years. The easing of the licensing regulations in Sweden in the early 1980s meant that production was resumed. Production finally ended in 1981. A total of around 300 vehicles were built.

vehicles

Initially, the company exclusively manufactured Formula Vee racing cars . Road vehicles followed in 1968. The first model was the Piraya . This was a kit car based on the VW Beetle . The flat, two-seater body had two gull-wing doors. 40 kits were sold within a year. The GT model with normal doors followed in 1969. Both models were also sold as complete vehicles.

At least one vehicle was based on an Auto Union 1000 Sp and had a plastic body .
