Mathematical student library

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Mathematische Schülerbücherei (MSB) is a book series that was published between 1965 and 1990 by various publishers in the GDR .

The publishers involved were the Deutsche Verlag der Wissenschaften (DVW), Berlin, the BG Teubner Verlag , Leipzig, the Volk und Wissen Verlag , Berlin, the Urania Verlag Leipzig, Jena, Berlin and the Kinderbuchverlag Berlin . The work at the MSB was coordinated by a "Working Group Mathematical Student Library of the Central Commission for Mathematics" at the Ministry for Popular Education of the GDR. The chairman was Ernst Hameister.

The aim of the series was to impart mathematical knowledge to schoolchildren, apprentices, students and other interested parties. Both general mathematical principles and special mathematical sub-areas were treated. In addition to books by German-speaking authors, translations from foreign languages such as Russian, Czech, Hungarian, Polish and Romanian have also been included.

Some of the titles also appeared in other book series, for example in the small supplementary series of the university books for mathematics (DVW), in the series Mein kleine Lexikon (children's book publisher), in the mathematics series of the small natural science library (Teubner) and in the accent series ( Urania). Some titles appeared earlier and were only included in the MSB in a later edition.

Licensed editions of some titles have been published by Harri Deutsch , Frankfurt am Main, Aulis Verlag , Cologne, and Vieweg Verlag , Braunschweig.

Title of the mathematical student library

Explanations:

Year: Indication of the year of the first edition within the MSB. If the title has already been published, the edition from which the title was included in the MSB and the year of the 1st edition are given.

Remarks: The series in which the title also appeared is given. In addition, an available ISBN (possibly with edition and year) is given.

Two titles are identified with the number 66.
