Mathilde of Bavaria
Mathilde Marie Theresia Henriette Christine Luitpolda Princess of Bavaria (born August 17, 1877 in Lindau , † August 6, 1906 in Davos ) was a Bavarian princess. She was the sixth child of Ludwig III. and his wife Maria Theresa of Modena .
Life
Mathilde Marie Theresia Henriette Christine Luitpolda was the third daughter of King Ludwig III. of Bavaria and the Archduchess Maria Theresa of Austria-Este . She is considered the favorite granddaughter of the Prince Regent Luitpold .
The princess married Ludwig Gaston of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha on May 1, 1900 in Munich , a son of Prince Ludwig August of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha and Leopoldina Teresa de Bragança , Infanta of the Brazilian Empire .
Mathilde died of a lung disease in Switzerland (Davos) at the age of 28. She is buried in an elaborate tomb in the St. Peter and Paul branch church in the Starnberg district of Riedern.
