Luisa Maria of Naples-Sicily
Maria Luisa Amelia Teresa (born July 27, 1773 in Naples , † September 19, 1802 in Vienna ) was a born Princess of Bourbon-Sicily and through her marriage from 1790 to 1801 Grand Duchess of Tuscany .
Life
Maria Luisa was born in 1773 as the second eldest of 18 children of King Ferdinand I of Naples and Sicily and his wife Maria Karolina , a daughter of Empress Maria Theresa .
At the age of 17, Princess Luisa was married to the Grand Duke Ferdinand III. of Tuscany , who as the son of Emperor Leopold II was also a grandson of Maria Theresa and had just taken over the government of Tuscany. The long distance wedding took place in Naples on August 15, 1790, and the actual wedding was then celebrated in Vienna on September 19, 1790. This marriage was part of a marriage between three of his children and three children of his favorite sister Maria Karolina, decided by Leopold II when he ascended the imperial throne. So was at the same time with the wedding of Ferdinand III. and Maria Luisa also those of Leopold's eldest son, the later Emperor Franz II./I. , and Maria Karolina's eldest daughter Maria Theresa as well as those of a younger daughter of Leopold, Maria Clementine , and a younger son of Maria Karolina, who later became King Francis I of Naples-Sicily . The last-mentioned marriage took place at that time because of the young age of the couple by procurationem; the actual wedding ceremony was not celebrated until seven years later.
Maria Luisa gave birth to six children to her husband:
- Carolina Ferdinanda (born August 2, 1793, † January 5, 1802)
- Franz Leopold (* December 15, 1794, † May 18, 1800)
- Leopold , (born October 3, 1797, † January 29, 1870), Grand Duke of Tuscany (1824–1859)
- Maria Luisa (born August 30, 1798, † June 15, 1857)
- Maria Theresa (born March 21, 1801, † January 12, 1855), Queen of Sardinia-Piedmont (1831–1849)
- stillborn son (* / † September 19, 1802)
When Napoleon conquered Tuscany as part of his warlike activities in 1800, the grand ducal family had to leave their empire and went to Vienna. There Maria Luisa gave birth to her sixth child in 1802, a stillbirth from which the 29-year-old mother also died. She is one of the 41 people who received a " separate burial " with the body being divided between all three traditional Viennese burial sites of the Habsburgs ( imperial crypt , heart crypt , ducal crypt ).
