Career

Rohdin began playing football in 1971 at the age of twelve in his hometown at Östers IF . In 1977 he made his debut under coach Lars Arnesson for the club in the Allsvenskan . While the club won the Von Rosens Cup for the Swedish championship in the 1978 , 1980 and 1981 seasons , he was not one of the championship players who were awarded gold medals. In the following years he was only a supplementary player. After 63 first division games in eight years, he left the club in early 1985.

Rohdin moved to Stockholm to study art history . At the same time he joined the first division competitor AIK, which is based in the region. The local trainer Rolf Zetterlund made him a regular on the left side of midfield, in the summer of that year he was in the cup final against his former club with the club. Against Östers IF, the team around Bernt Ljung , Björn Kindlund and Mats Olausson won the cup on penalties . In the 1986 season he just missed another title win when AIK played its way into the final for the championship title. After a 1-0 first leg win, Malmö FF took the title with a 5-2 second leg win. In 1989 Rohdin, who had meanwhile been converted into a defensive player, was injured in a cup game. A regular player to date, he still played regularly until the end of the season. In the 1990 and 1991 seasons , however, he had to cut back, so that at the end of 1991, after 128 first division games for AIK, he ended his active professional career. In 1994 he briefly returned to the football field in the lower class amateur area for Huvudsta IS .

In the summer of 1988, Rohdin also made headlines off the field. After several fellow players and opponents complained about racist fan chants and calls over the course of the season, he wrote an open letter published in the Expressen newspaper . He was later awarded the Ronny Landin Prize for his work. The Elitdomareklubben i fotboll awarded him its Player of the Year award the following year for his commitment to a fair game.

During his active career, Rohdin had published his first film studies articles and books in the late 1980s. He later received his doctorate from Stockholm University , where he has been teaching in the relevant subject since the mid-2000s. One focus of his work is Ingmar Bergman , together with Maaret Koskinen he wrote the book “Fanny och Alexander” about the film of the same name .
