Matthias "Matti" Harry R. De Meulder (born March 5, 1988 ) is a professional Belgian poker player from Antwerp . His twin brother Christophe is also a poker player.

Personal

De Meulder grew up with his twin brother Christophe in a small town near Antwerp . Her father Bob let her take part in various film castings, so they met Leonardo DiCaprio during a casting for the film Total Eclipse in 1993 . At the age of ten, the twins won a casting for the show Man bijt Hond ( German man bites dog ) and then moderated it for three years. Matthias De Meulder then continued his school education and is now studying political science at the University of Antwerp .  

In 2012 he took part in the reality show Expeditie Robinson with his twin brother and Fatima Moreira de Melo .

Poker career

De Meulder came to poker through friends and taught his brother Christophe the game. He himself started playing on the online platform PokerStars and was part of Team PokerStars alongside his brother under the nickname mattidm until the end of 2015 . He also uses the nicknames mattidm_uk (PokerStars) , nocoiner ( bwin ) , igotprice ( 888poker ) , pikkendief115 ( partypoker ) and couleurmax_1 ( Winamax ) and has earned more than one million US dollars with online tournament poker . De Meulder has been a regular guest at renowned live tournaments since 2009 .

In early July 2009 he was successful for the first time at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and finished 645th in the main event . At the end of August 2011, De Meulder finished tenth at the main event of the European Poker Tour (EPT) in Barcelona and received prize money of 50,000 euros . In February 2012 he won an EPT side event in Deauville and secured a prize money of 136,000 euros. In mid-April 2013 De Meulder won the main event of the Belgian Poker Challenge in Middelkerke for more than 50,000 euros in prize money. At the 2017 WSOP , he reached the sixth day of the tournament in the main event and was eliminated there in 78th place, earning him over $ 85,000. At the end of August 2018, he reached the final table at an EPT event in Barcelona and finished fifth for more than 70,000 euros.

Overall, De Meulder has earned almost $ 1.5 million playing poker in live tournaments.
