From 1456 to 1464 he was archdeacon in Stolpe an der Peene .

He was friends with Heinrich Rubenow , with whom he was involved in founding the University of Greifswald and was present at the inauguration ceremony. Wedel initially belonged to the artist faculty , but soon turned to law . At the University of Bologna , where he had enrolled together with Gervinus Ronnegarwe in 1458 , he was procurator in 1460 and received his doctorate in canon law in 1461 . Then he received the second professorship alongside Georg Walter at the law faculty of the University of Greifswald, where he had to read about the sixth book of the decretals and the clementines . In 1462 he was rector of the university.

Her task was to prove the succession of the Wolgast line of the Greifenhaus genealogically , heraldically and legally.

In the speech " Oratio pro parte ducum Stettinesium coram Imperatore " given by Wedel to the Kaiser in Regensburg , he emphasized the illegality of the Brandenburg claims. Among other things, he made statements on the history and use of the Pomeranian coat of arms . The effect of the speech was promising. Wedel died in September 1465 under unexplained circumstances. He also submitted the speech he gave in Low German in a written version in Latin . A copy later found its way into a codex in the Greifswald city archive.
