Maurice Gaidon

Maurice-Adolphe Gaidon (born January 17, 1928 in Dijon , † November 14, 2011 ibid) was a French clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Cahors .

Life

Maurice Gaidon studied literature at the University of Burgundy . He was considered a first-class pianist and was awarded first prize in the piano category at the Conservatoire de musique de Dijon. After his literature degree, he entered the seminary in Dijon and studied at the Catholic University of Lyon philosophy and theology . On June 29, 1956, he was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Dijon . From 1957 to 1960 he was prefect at the Minor Seminary in Flavigny-sur-Ozerain and from 1960 was vicar in the parish Herz-Jesu, Dijon. In 1962 he took over the professorship for fundamental theology at the seminary in Dijon and was its superior from 1966 to 1973.

Pope Paul VI appointed him on August 13, 1973 titular bishop of Sebarga and auxiliary bishop in Besançon . The Bishop of Dijon , André Charles de la Brousse , donated him episcopal ordination on September 30, 1973 ; Co - consecrators were Marc-Armand Lallier , Archbishop of Besançon , and Bernardin Gantin , Secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples . Maurice Gaidon was buried on November 21, 2011 in the Saint-Etienne Cathedral in Cahors .
