Max Schlee

Max Schlee , also Schlee-Pascha (born September 24, 1866 in Stuttgart ; † 1932 ) was a major general in Württemberg who had also served as inspector general of the Turkish field artillery in Ottoman service.

Life

Immediately after attending school, Schlee joined the 2nd Field Artillery Regiment No. 29 of the Württemberg Army on October 1, 1884 . There he was promoted to second lieutenant on February 6, 1886 . Schlee was promoted to captain on October 1, 1899, as an adjutant of the 26th Field Artillery Brigade . On February 25, 1903, he was assigned to Prussia in the 2nd Lower Alsatian Field Artillery Regiment No. 67 . Shortly afterwards he was appointed battery boss here . From February to the end of May 1905 Schlee completed a course at the field artillery shooting school in Jüterbog . Schlee received on 10 September 1908, character as a Major and stepped into the award of a patent for this rank on 19 November 1908. Staff of the Field Artillery Regiment "Holtzendorff" (first Rhine) no. 8 in Saarlouis on. In the same position, Schlee was transferred to the Mansfeld Field Artillery Regiment No. 75 in Halle (Saale) on July 19, 1911 , and was employed there as a department commander from August 18, 1911. Released from this position on October 1, 1913, Schlee rejoined the regimental staff.

At the beginning of 1914 Schlee was released from his command in Prussia and transferred to the army officers in the uniform of the field artillery regiment "Prince Regent Luitpold von Bayern" (2nd Württembergisches) No. 29 for the purpose of transferring to Ottoman service with officers. He was a member of the German military mission in the Ottoman Empire . There he held the post of inspector general of the Turkish field artillery with the rank of commanding general . From 1915 to 1918 he worked in the Turkish "Great Headquarters" in Constantinople . For his services, Sultan Mehmed V honored him by being awarded the title of pasha . He also awarded Schlee the Osmanje Order II. Class with Star and Swords, the Mecidiye Order II. Class with a Star and the Golden Liakat Medal .

The King of Württemberg awarded Schlee the Commander II Class of the Order of Frederick with Swords, the Cross of Honor of the Order of the Württemberg Crown with Swords and the Knight's Cross of the Order of Military Merit .

After the end of the war and return home, Schlee received the character of Major General on July 10, 1919. He later studied law and economics in Berlin . Then he worked in the private sector.

Schlee was married to Paula von Reclam. Their daughter Marie-Elisabeth married Friedrich Gustav Jaeger in 1918 .
