Mehrin is a district of the town of Vienau and the town of Kalbe (Milde) in the Altmarkkreis Salzwedel in Saxony-Anhalt .

history
Mehrin is first mentioned as Marin in 1324 , when Hans and Heinecke von Kröcher sold Kalbe Castle and the associated villages to Albrecht von Alvensleben . Other nominations include: 1441 ZCU merin , 1541 Merin , 1687 Merin .
Moritz Wilhelm Heffter , the editor of the list of names for the Codex diplomaticus Brandenburgensis , assigned additional place names to the village of Mehrin in 1868: Morin, Merrin and Merryn. As a result, the statement Her Christianus Pferdrer to Morin in a document issued in Tangermünde in 1318 is also interpreted as the first documentary mention of the place.
Incorporations
On July 1, 1950, the municipality of Beese was incorporated into the municipality of Mehrin. On July 25, 1952 Mehrin from was district Salzwedel in the county Kalbe (Milde) reclassified. On October 17, 1973, Mehrin and its Beese district were incorporated into Vienau . On January 1, 2010, several parishes joined forces with Vienau to form the unified parish of the city of Kalbe (Milde). So Mehrin and Beese came on the same day as districts to the new village Vienau and the city of Kalbe (Milde).

The Protestant parish and parish Mehrin belong to the parish area Fleetmark-Jeetze of the parish of Salzwedel in the Provostspengel Stendal-Magdeburg of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany . In 1903 the parishes of Vienau, Beese and Dolchau belonged to the parish.
Culture and sights
- The Protestant village church in Mehrin is a late Romanesque stone church with a small apse in the east.
- In Mehrin there are the ruins of a mansion of the von Kalben family from 1747 and a former castle complex .
- On the Dolchauer Berg, 1.5 kilometers west of Mehrin, there is a memorial with name plaques for the fallen soldiers of the First and Second World Wars in the communities of Beese, Mehrin, Vienau and Dolchau.
