action

The cozy Traugott Wurster is a lazy man of mind, a real lazy man. Ms. Wurster has to toil at work day in, day out, while Traugott presses himself into bed or on the couch at home and pretends to take care of the six children they share. One day the time has come: Traugott falls into a kind of comatose long sleep. Since now nobody can take over the supervision of the Wurster offspring at all, Traugott's wife decides to distribute the little ones among the relatives. But she also has an idea how to even make money with her snoring husband. Ms. Wurster rents out Traugott's sleepy head to a furniture store, which can put it on display in the shop window as an advertisement for beds and mattresses. As in the zoo, people can come by and watch Traugott sleep.

Soon the Traugott snore bag will be the sensation in the village. Meanwhile, Markus Wurster has been passed on to Traugott's brother, the eponymous uncle Theodor, who lives in another city. He is an avowed child hater, curmudgeon and philistine who you can't please and who gets on everyone's nerves with his know-it-all and pedantic manner. To make matters worse, his wife Erika expects offspring herself. Theodor now has the chance to get used to his father role and to practice dealing with the “little ones”. But Uncle Theodor is learning. In the end, he even became a passionate child lover, and Traugott woke up from his long sleep. But he wonders why he, in the truest sense of the word, got rich in his sleep.

criticism

“Turbulent slapstick with Gert Fröbe in a double role: As a constant sleeper, he becomes a lucrative breadwinner for his large family, and as Uncle Theodor, he grows from a child-hostile philistine to a revolutionary child friend. Actually thought of as child-friendly, but as mere fun, overloaded in terms of form and content. "
