Meinrad Morger

Meinrad Ulrich Morger (born January 2, 1957 in Appenzell ) is a Swiss architect and professor .

Life

Morger began an apprenticeship as a structural draftsman in 1974 . In 1988 Meinrad Morger completed an architecture degree at the HTL Winterthur . During his studies he worked for Michael Alder in Basel and at Metron Architects in Brugg. After graduating, he founded the architecture firm Morger & Degelo in Basel with Heinrich Degelo , which lasted until 2006. In 1992 he received a federal art grant. Between 2003 and 2008 he was professor at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts. From 2006 to 2015 he ran the Morger + Dettli Architects office in Basel together with Fortunat Dettli. Since August 2015 the office has been called Morger Partner Architects, based in Basel. Morger was a member of the Basel-Stadt Monument Council from 2001 to 2011 . From 2014 to 2016 he was chairman of the Basel branch of the Federation of Swiss Architects .

Teaching

From 1987 to 1993 Morger was an assistant at the ETH Zurich . From 1997 to 1998 he worked as a guest lecturer at the EPF Lausanne and from 1998 to 2000 at the ETH Zurich. In 2003 he was appointed professor at the University of Technology and Architecture in Lucerne, where he taught until 2008. From 2008 to 2010 he was a university professor at RWTH Aachen University . From 2010 to 2017, Morger was the successor of Dörte Gatermann and Dietrich Bangert as a university professor at the Technical University of Darmstadt at the chair of design and building theory and from 2013 to 2015 also held the dean's office of the architecture department. On April 1, 2017, he was appointed university professor for building theory at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology as the successor to Arno Lederer and Daniele Marques .

Judging activities

Morger was chairman of the jury for the urban development competition "Arealentwicklung Alte Spinnerei" on the Lorze in Baar and for the new construction of the Ringelberghohl day care center in Karlsruhe.
