Mercury Medalist

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Mercury Medalist was a model of the full size class (upper middle class) built in 1955/56 by the American automobile manufacturer Mercury , which is part of the Ford group .

Model history

The Medalist was the cheapest Mercury model in the 1956 model year and was offered as a two-door coupé and four-door sedan , each with or without B-pillars , i.e. in conventional or hardtop design. The Medalist was powered by a 5.1 liter V-8 with 213-264 SAE-PS (157-194 kW), the power was transmitted via a three- or four-speed gearbox or an automatic called Merc-O-Matic.

After a year, the medalist dropped out of the program. The entry-level model from 1958 was originally supposed to be called the Medalist again, but was then simply called Mercury, without any further name.
