Michael Grieb
Michael Grieb (born February 12, 1921 in Tännesberg , Upper Palatinate , † October 17, 2003 in Schwerin ) was a German politician ( SED ). He was chairman of the Schwerin District Council .
Life
Grieb, son of a shoemaker's journeyman as well as a cleaning lady and kitchen assistant, attended elementary school in Tännesberg from 1927 to 1935 . From May 1935 to May 1938 he attended vocational school and completed an apprenticeship as a baker in Munich . In 1938/39 he worked as a baker in Munich and Heidelberg . In July 1940 he was drafted into the army for military service. Most recently he was chief signal officer in the 21st U-Flotilla. From May to September 1945 he was a British prisoner of war in Wendtorf near Kiel . He worked there as a brick cleaner. After his release he worked for a short time as a construction worker in Kiel, before moving to Waren (Müritz) in the Soviet zone of occupation in November 1945 after a stay in Munich and Tännesberg . From January 1946 to February 1948 Grieb was a journeyman baker in a bakery, and in 1947 he passed the master craftsman's examination as a baker in Waren. Between 1948 and 1950 he ran a consumer bakery there.
In 1946 Grieb joined the SED. In 1950/51 he acted as Secretary for Enlightenment at the District Committee of the National Front in Waren, then in 1951/52 as Secretary at the District Committee of the National Front in Stralsund and Waren. From August 1952 to July 1954 he headed the department for organization as well as intelligence, press and training at the Schwerin district committee of the National Front. From May 1954 to August 1956 he was instructor for written agitation and instructor for press and radio for the SED district leadership in Schwerin. Between 1954 and 1960 he completed a distance learning course at the party college "Karl Marx" with a degree in social science. In 1956/57 he worked as deputy head of the agitation and propaganda department of the SED district leadership in Schwerin. From 1957 to 1960 he was personal assistant to the first secretary of the SED district leadership in Schwerin, Bernhard Quandt . From July 1960 Grieb was chairman of the Schwerin District Council and a member of the Schwerin District Parliament . In May 1968 he was dismissed from this position and in 1968/69 he took part in the second year-long course for party officials at the Berlin School of Economics . From 1969 to 1982 he was the first deputy chairman of the Rostock District Council and was a member of the Rostock District Assembly. In 1982 Grieb was disabled.
