Michael "Mike" Kuhr (born February 26, 1962 in Berlin ) is a former German kickboxer and operator of a security service .

Life

Kuhr was born as the son of the married couple Wolfgang and Traute Kuhr, geb. Nitschke, born. He trained as a mail carrier and between 1978 and 1995 was a federal civil servant in the service of the Deutsche Bundespost . In 1995 he left the postal service for health reasons. Since then he has been running a security company in Berlin and is a staunch advocate of close cooperation with the police. In Berlin, for example, he worked with the special organizational structure (BAO) “Türsteher” of the LKA Berlin . The powerful unit had in January 2001 around discos , restaurants and brothels the organized crime declared war.

Kuhr started kickboxing in 1974. By winning the vice world championship in 1979, he moved to the top of the world and subsequently successfully participated in all well-known competitions. As an amateur, Kuhr was German champion ten times, European champion four times and WAKO world champion in 1985 . After moving to professional life, he became the first German professional kickboxing world champion in 1990. Between 1990 and 1994 he was world champion of the world associations WAKO-PRO , PKO , ISKA and IKBF. In 1994 he ended his active career as the reigning professional world champion for health reasons. Because of his sporting success, he was inducted into the WAKO Germany Hall of Fame .

Michael Kuhr and his team of bouncers could be seen in documentaries on 3sat as well as in the TV programs Galileo and Explosiv - Das Magazin . An excerpt from a documentary in which Kuhr had a de-escalating conversation with a disco visitor was often shown totally as a clip on TV .

On the basis of Michael Kuhr's testimony, the armed robbery in the Hotel Grand Hyatt on Potsdamer Platz on March 6, 2010 during Europe's largest poker tournament , the European Poker Tour , was cleared up. In the court proceedings in September 2010, Kuhr identified one of the brothers from the Abou Chaker clan from Neukölln as the mastermind behind the poker robbery . After the LKA in Berlin received information about a murder order against Kuhr in spring 2012, the homicide commission ordered the two highest-ranking brothers of the Abou Chaker clan to approach the police station as a preventive measure . The prosecution dropped the case for attempted incitement to murder after six months.
